An interesting job fitting these oak beams to a cottage ceiling in Northumberland.
Then main beam is an 8″x6″ solid green English oak hollowed out to reduce the weight (usually used to cover RSJ’s). It’s fitted in two halves with a metal strap to cover the join. The smaller beams are 4″x2″ green English oak. All finished in an antique wax. Looks like it was built like that.
